mix creates the most gas.
Hypothesis: (What do I think will happen)
I think that the baking soda and vinegar will create the most gas to fill the balloon and make it bigger than the other balloons. I think that because all of the experiments I have done with mixing these two ingredients has related in making a lot of gas.
Materials:
- Bottles
- Balloons
- Baking soda
- Soda water
- Salt
- 1/2 cup measuring cup
- Yeast
- Sugar
- Funnel
Steps:
- Grab your bottle, make sure it is empty and dry.
- Grab you funnel and balloon.
- Get the first ingredients yeast and sugar.
- Pour 2 tsp of the yeast and 1 tsp of sugar, make sure to pour it in one at a time.
- Then wait for it to rise.
- For the next experiments do the same thing except with the salt and baking soda for the other 2 ingredients go into the balloon.
Findings:
Balloon 1
( 3 tsp baking soda, ½ cup vinegar)
|
Balloon 2
( 3 tsp salt, ½ cup soda)
|
Balloon 3
( 2 tsp yeast, 1 tsp sugar )
| |
Balloon Size (cm)
| 12.5cm | 5.2cm | 4.5cm |
Bubbles
| Small amount of bubbles. | Medium amount of bubbles | Large amount of bubbles. |
Conclusion:
For science this week we did a science experiment were we had to see what chemical mix make the most gas to fill the balloon the most. Balloon one was baking soda and vinegar, the balloon rose fast and got pretty big but didn't get much bigger after. Balloon two was salt and soda water, this balloon rose pretty slow and didn't get very big. Balloon three was yeast and sugar, this balloon had to be started first as it took awhile to rise and made the smallest balloon. I think if the yeast balloon had been given more time to work it might have been bigger that balloon two but a little smaller than balloon one.
hello Heaven i really like how you explain what are the materials and talking about what have you done in your work. maybe you can add some more words about the balloon :), You did a really great work Heaven.
ReplyDeleteHi Heaven.
ReplyDeleteThis is really cool and it looks like you had fun as I can see you enjoyed writing the blog post.
It looks like balloon 1 was quite big compared to the other balloons.
Next time tell us how much bottles and balloons are needed.
BYE!
Hey Tobey, thank you for the comment and I will be sure to ad how many items are needed.
DeleteHi Heaven.
ReplyDeleteI really like how your steps are very clear and we can understand them.
Looks like you had heaps of fun doing this experiment.
Maybe, next time. You could show us how much we need.
